Early on in life I developed a deep appreciation and love of all things nature. Rooted in this “obsession” was my love of the gardens my mum would have enjoyed in her native England. My mum was a war bride - married my father (Canadian Navigator) during the war and when the war was over, she and my brother (a baby) joined him in Canada. She was on the last shipment of war brides brought to Canada on the Queen Mary. Landing in Halifax, she then boarded a train headed for Edmonton, Alberta - 5 days across the prairies. I have the trunks that she came over with, and will be using them in the retail area of our business for display. Sadly my mum passed away in England on a vacation in January of 1977.

In the late 1990’s, my sister, her family and I flew to England - my first trip ever. Certainly NOT my last! The vast beauty of that country was all encompassing. My mum and her brother (my uncle) were evacuated from London to Cornwall - hence the name of our business. I have shared many cups of tea in my uncle and aunts home in Cornwall over the years - and hope to get back again soon - as my Uncle is in his mid 90’s now.

We have a great interest in Heritage Gardening - finding out what kind of plants your ancestors would have grown in their gardens, then bringing the selections to try in your own gardens. Discover your Roots!
